NO.  The party purchases the alcohol.  The reason has to do with taxing and 
licensing, it's pretty complicated, but from everything I understand, the best 
system is for you (the bartender) to decide exactly what you think you need, 
give the list to the host, and have them purchase it at retail.  If you 
purchase and bring the alcohol, you need separate licensing which is 
expensive, AND it ups your liability by quite a bit.  A bartender should only 
bring his tools to the table - pour spouts, bar blade, shakers, etc., things 
he will walk away with at the end of the night as well.  All consumables 
should be directly purchased by the host.
