Subject: Cosmopolitan - derived from a kamikaze?
From: Thinking Bartender

So if the Cosmopolitan is based on a Kamikaze, then that leads me to wonder
which Kamikaze recipe it was based on...

Kamikaze.

2 parts vodka,
1 part cointreau,
1 part fresh lime.

Shake with ice, and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a
lime wedge.

Add to that a splash of cranberry for a Cosmopolitan.

But the recipe which I personally use for a Cosmopolitan is...

1 1/2 shots vodka,
1/2 shot cointreau,
1/4 shot fresh lime juice,
1 shot cranberry juice

but if I were to use the Kamikaze as the basis, then it should be more like
this...

1 1/2 shot vodka,
3/4 shot cointreau,
3/4 shot fresh lime juice,
1/2 shot cranberry juice.

personally that doesn't sound too bad either.

Over Christmas I was making Kamikazes with added Apple juice, and they would
very agreeable.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!
