A few of my guys have done this. The quiz is a set of questions set for the
finalists. It includes questions on distillation, viticulture, a few on
cocktails, beers etc. Last year to enter the bartender of the year comp you
had to answer 6 questions listed in the magazine. I vaguely remember them
being about Aquavit, wine and ummm some other stuff! The thing was you replied
on line so there was nothing to stop you researching the answers before
applying!
One of my guys who made the final 20 but was a bit bitter 'coz he said in the
final the quiz wasn't supervised so a few guys were openly pulling out Sauce
guides etc and answering from the book!
There's also a speed chalenge to open a beer, make a cosmo, B52, spirit mixer
and maybe something else in the minimum time and a cocktail comp where you
have to make a classic (Daiquiri the last two years) and a creation (i think).
As far as Maxium brands go I don't know anything about a regulation cocktail
menu but there's a Sauce guide to Maxium that's out that basically takes the
form of the guide to drinks and drinking but specific to Maxium products so
you might want to hit your rep for a free copy of that, I don't think it's
available in the shops!
