In Iowa, yes, you would need a license. I think you'd need a catering license, 
but I'm not positive. You can find Iowa's state licensing requirements here

You can find other state licensing requirments by going here

and selecting alcohol laws, then state laws and regs. You may have to follow 
still another link to get to the state gvmnt pages on licensing. This page 
also lists telephone numbers of your state's liquor czars.
