Interesting. From a management point of view, I often worried that I couldn't
offer a position that would keep someone "over-qualified" happy...i.e. someone
with years and years of bartending experience comes in and all I have is
serving. Other concerns are if you can actually train this person, since they
may think they know it all. I didn't have this mentality very often, as I
don't like to pass up "rock stars." Perhaps you could go into these clubs and
develop a rapport with the employees already there...see what they're hiring
for, and even if they can put in a good word for you. My most recent
experience in the job hunt was putting in an app at a restaurant/bar, and the
manager was VERY interested in my resume, plus I had some of his employees in
my bar across the street, so they all knew me and liked me. Scored tons of
points.
