On a time line I'd say Cognac, Rye then Bourbon! In taste terms I think I'm
for the Rye but then I've never made it with a top end Cognac or a Cognac, Rye
combo!
Like the Manhattan it's one of those drinks that has morphed to be made with
Bourbon as standard in modern times, (probably due to the decline of Rye that
Natrone mentioned in another thread, just like Rye took over in the Sazerac
when Cognac declined post phelexora (sp?)) not neccesarilly to the benefit of
its taste as a drink but now widely assumed to be the base ingrediant!
I'm looking forward to checking out G&R but if we don't meet there I'll def
make the effort to visit Dusk or the new place in the New year!
