I have worked in two different areas with a smoking ban. California and New
York City,... Coincidentally in both places I ended up working in a smoking
section of a bar. How we are getting away with it in California is that we
have an outdoor smoking patio. Sure it might get a bit cold in the winter but
thats what good space heaters are for. In NYC they just had one room in the
club that people were allowed to smoke in, it was a "vip"ish area so to speak.
Personally I don't mind the smoking ban out here in California. Because my
boss took the time to invest in an outdoor area I have the privledge to be one
of the few tenders in California who can light a cig for a customer while
taking/making orders. It helps me tip wise. When I am inside, I like it too
because I don't have people blowing their smoke all over me.
