They passed the no smoking law here (in upstate New York) in the Summer of
2003. Working in a college town, it didn't hurt business, and it has
definitely boosted our restaurant sales. The bars are much nicer without
smoking. The best thing about it is not reeking of smoke every time you leave
the bar. The worst thing about it is trying to stand outside and smoke in
January. To make matters worse, you can't bring your drink outside with you
because of open container laws.
