Well, here in California there is no mandatory training. Just a very hefty
fine if you get caught. I don't remember exactly what it is, but I know that a
first offense is more then I make in a month. (PLus at our establishment it is
automatic termination.)

I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble at weddings. Probably because
they are private events and nobody invites the government. I have seen some
pretty drastic tactics by some government control agencies. I know The
California ABC shut down a small brewery after a special brewery tour that the
agency was able to infiltrate. There was also a local restuaraunt here
thatgot in trouble the day they opened when someone ordered a drink and gave
it to another person at their table that was underage. I also know in many
areas you can drink as a minor in private places (such as your home).
California has public minor drinking laws, but theres nothing to say you can't
give your kids alchohol. I believe the rules change if you give a minor a
drink that is not related to you.

It seems to me that every responsible bartender should go out and learn the
laws in the area about alchohol. Not knowing these laws makes about as much
sense as a gun dealer not knowing anything about gun control. If you keep
yourself uninformed your asking for it.

So far my best tactic for finding about what to look for has been to google
search your local ID's For me I did "California Fake ID" and looked to see
what the people who were selling them advertised as features. I then memorized
everything I could about these features on a real ID. Un fortunatly this
doesn't work when someone comes in with an out-of-state ID and then I just
have to guess. I posted this thread in hopes that I could find someone that
had a better resource then I did.

P.S. PLease forgive any spelling errors. It's been a long and strange day.
