Joyce, You'll find lots of info on layering if you "search"
it in this forum.....here's a copy of one of them I wrote a while back...
First, don't be intimidated by layering. It really is quite simple and only
requires a steady hand along w/ some knowledge of what will layer on top of
each other (liquor weights), so don't feel like you are going to mess up a
lot....you won't. Secondly, there isn't a need for you to purchase any alcohol
to practice. Just walk to your kitchen. Hmmmmmm...let's see...got milk? got
oil? (olive or whatever) Then take your shot glass, pour some milk in, then
take a spoon and place it inside the glass on top of the milk layer....(some
prefer the spoon convexed...some concaved)...now steadily pour the oil on the
spoon and as you do slowly lift the spoon to keep up w/ the rising level of
the shot....Viola'!
You just layered!......Don't stop here....get out all kinds of stuff and
experiment...juices, karo syrup, honey, vinegar, yoohoo,.....whatever....they
all have different weights just like liquors......then when you feel confident
look up some layered recipes, go buy the ingredients and you are on your
way....if you get tired of the kitchen, head for the bathroom for liquid
handsoap, shampoo, cologne,......(ha)
Happy layering!
