Chance,

These people cut their limes into 8 pieces, and then fill whole buckets with 
these dry uneven lime pieces.

So no, they don't prepare limes for each drink. 1 lime, 1 drink. They put so 
much sugar into their Caipirinhas, that it doesn't really matter about the 
amount of lime juice they extract through muddling, and the same goes for the 
bitterness extracted from muddling the pith of the lime fruit.

As for sugar I prefer to use sugar syrup.

I have worked with Brazilians who say that my Caipirinha is prefect, and other 
Brazilians who rant on about using brown sugar, demerara etc etc etc.

It is a bit like asking an Italian "Who's Mother makes the best Ragu?". "Well 
my Mother of course!!!" will be the reply.
