Funny, I didn't even notice that everybody else was misspelling it. Huh, I
just always spelled it without the Y ever since I saw the bottle. Not only is
the Y wrong, so is the 'c' at the end...supposed to be a 'q'
Anyway, I don't think that they are going to be able to successfully
transition Hpnotiq into the non-club environment with any degree of major
sales until the product has been around for a while. My prediction is that
Hpnotiq is going to be accepted as a function of time, not their marketting.
I won't guess on how long it will take, and marketting could speed the
process, but they won't be able to instantly sell this as a higher class drink
until it looses the strict "urban" reputation. I think that it will also help
that as Hennesy has now made it's comeback, Hpnotiq is bound to become an item
to always "keep around". Once more places start carrying it and more people
start becoming familiar with it in use with a couple of different recipes,
it'll slowly see use in a few more areas. I doubt that in the next 7 years it
will stand any chance of seeing the level of use/sales we expect from Kahlua,
flavoured vodkas, or the puckers (Just so there's no confusion, I think it
will take a long time to catch up to those products, which I consider to be a
similar type of product)
