The grenadine wouldn't mix with the drink. We use a very thick grenadine.
One of our martini's uses this technique. We pour the drink into the martini
glass, then pour streaks of grenadine down the side of the glass. If you
start the drop on the glass itself, rather than in the liquid, it sticks to
the glass and simply leaves a streak down the side of the glass and a small
puddle in the bottom.
