But what if you have yet to get a bartending job? Would you still list the
school on your resume?
I have experience serving, expediting, bussing, hosting, dishwashing, delivery
driving and even managing a restaurant. But I am just now looking to be a
Bartender. I'm going to school to get some basic skills, not to become an
expert (lol). I don't see how 2 weeks of school could equal more than 2 weeks
of work experience, to be honest. I think the claim of it being worth 2 years
of experience is totally bogus. You may learn the same amount of recipes as
someone who's picked them up over time for 2 years on the job, but there's a
lot more to tending a bar than just recipes. You can't learn everything you
need to know in school. Like everything else, hands on is best.
So if I were to try to break into the market, would I be better or worse off
for listing the school on my resume? I've read a couple posts about any
resumes with bartending school getting trashed on sight, but is this the norm
or the exception?
