I just posted a reply to the question about Long Island recipe's and it has inspired me to share what has become somewhat of a family tradition. For my grandmother's birthday we took a little limo ride about 45 minutes noth of my hometown, to a city called Madera. My father (who actually does not drink) found a recipe somewhere for a Long Island ice tea and decieded to make it in bulk. He used the following recipe: NOTE: measures can be oz., cup, pint, quart, etc. depending on quantity desired. 1 measure of gin 1 measure of light rum 1 measure of vodka 1 measure of tequila (optional...some don't care for the taste) 1/2 measure of triple sec 2 measures of sweet & sour 1/2 measure of Coke (No Pepsi...Coke!) I think he make a gallon and a half or something like that and put it in a "pumper pot"-- you know, those insulated beverage dispensers that stand about two feet high and have a large button on top you push down on and it pumps some of the beverage out into a cup.... not sure to the brand name or what you really call this thing but it works GREAT for taking with you to tailgates, etc and dispensing a punch/cocktail. Anyhow, my family now calls this the "Madera Recipe" because by the time we made it to Madera we were all feelin' good! For those who ask for a good punch/drink in quantity to get you ripped, if you like the long island then just make it in a large quantity and serve it as a punch.... you might wait to add the soda until last minute because it is carbonated and also be sure to give it a good stir every once and a while. Cheers. -- Interested in custom handmade knives? Check out my fathers site at http://www.mrcalifornia.com/~hjensen He would be happy to work with you on creating the perfect knife to meet your needs.
