Subject: Bartending - appropriate p/t job for a full-time student?

Hi! I'm new here, but have been searching around this board for a while now,
picking up some very useful information in the process :) I hope that you
guys can lend me a hand and offer your opinions on my situation.

Like many unemployed students during this time of year, I'm searching hard for
a decent part-time job. Lately, I've been considering taking a certified
bartending course in order to expand my options. More importantly, bartending
is something that I'm actually interested in and would like to get into. The
thing is, I'm a full-time university student and I'm not sure if this sector
of work is appropriate as a part-time job. Stated differently.. do people
actually hire those who can only work during the summer and weekends during
school time? Not to mention that I have basically no experience in the
social-service sector (umm I've tutored and volunteered, if that remotely
helps at all). Should I continue to consider bartending as an investible
skill (i.e. I'll go to bartending school) or should I just drop the idea and
take some casual courses if I'm really that interested? Thanks so much.

Oh, might I add that I don't have plans to open up my own bar or anything.. I
just want to get a part-time job that I think I'll actually have fun doing.
