I feel your pain, but that's really just the status quo in the life of a
bartender. No matter where you bartend you're going to encounter rude,
obnoxious, cheap, arrogant bastards, many of whom couldn't care less about the
law. The best you can do is to do your job, attempt to stay polite, and uphold
the law. Every once in a while you'll get your vindication.

One time I had a couple, probably around 40 come into a bar I was working at -
two of the rudest people I'd met in my life. Demanded a couple drinks, so I
asked for ID just to be a jerk (the bar had been "stung" by the police about a
month earlier so we were hardcore) unfortunately for the lady and fortunately
for me, her ID was expired, not by a week or a month, but by nine years - so I
refused to serve them. Sure they made a scene, but the manager on duty backed
me up, and sent them unhappily on their way. Point being, sometimes you'll
have opportunities for vindication while still operating in a manner that
won't get you fired, you just need to be on the lookout for those. That's what
kept me sane most of the time.
