I've taken Paxil, which is in the same chemical category as Prozac, on and off
for about ten years. The reason they originally put the "do not drink" label
on was because Prozac can cause drowsiness and alcohol will enhance that
effect. My doctor reccomended that I take it easy with the alcohol until I
figured out how it would affect me, but that alcohol isn't going to interact
dangerously with the medication. I've never had a problem, and I know quite a
few people taking SSRIs (the class of drugs that includes Prozac and Paxil)
and none of them have had problems either. I'd advise not overdoing it to
start, and be very careful driving even if you've only had one or two drinks
until you're sure that alcohol won't make you very tired.

Good luck and happy birthday!
