No offence, but that sounds truly disgusting.

But then I'm not a big banana fan.  

It would almost definitely taste and look better to buy a chocolate flavored 
vodka (Van Gogh makes an excellent one) and mix it with creme de banana.

As far as infusing vodka with other flavors, fruit works very well.  There are 
several threads about this in the recipes forum.  A local favorite around here 
is to have a big jar with pineapple chunks filled with vodka.  That makes a 
very tasty shot chilled.  You can even take a whole pineapple, cut off the top 
and core it (leave the bottom) and then fill it with vodka.  Put it in the 
fridge until it absorbs and then fill it again until it won't absorb any more. 
 You can then cut up the pineapple chunks and eat them.  It's a fun thing to 
serve at a party instead of shots.
