Subject: Free Poker Tournaments

Does anyone here (I'm mostly talking about US bars, but input from overseas is
welcome as well) work at a bar that is running free poker tournaments?

If so, what do you think of them, what would you improve about them, and how
comfortable are you with the potential legal rammifications?

My boyfriend works for one of these companies and I play fairly often but I've
never worked in a bar that hosted them. It's an interesting concept that
seems to be making a lot of bars a lot of money in food and drink sales.
(since the tournaments are free, there is no entry fee, rake, or other "profit
from gambling" going on- this is what makes them legal.) Some of the servers
and tenders seem to like working on tournament nights, and others seem to
really hate it. What I want mostly is a service industry perspective on the
whole thing so that we can maybe make the games better for everyone. I don't
mean this as a shameless plug (though if you're in Texas, North Dakota, Ohio,
Missouri or Nebraska you can contact me for more info!) but more just to
gather information from people on the other side of the bar.

Thanks!

(the website is http://www.tfpl.net in case anyone is interested in learning
more about the company.)
