I'll have to try building it in the glass. Would you shake or stir?

I tried Appletons V/X and it wasn't quite as good. I haven't tried Bacardi 8,
but I'm sure it would work great.

I started collecting fine rums about a year ago. Pyrat XO was one of the
first ones I got. Pyrat is my favorite one for mixing. You can usually find
it on the net for about $30. Right now it's on sale at www.hitimewine.com for
$20.

My all time favorite is Ron Pampero Aniversario ($25-35). So smooth, you
can't tell its alcohol. On a recent trip to NY, I found several good rums for
real good prices. I picked up a bottle of Ron Zacapa 23 yr for about $40.
It's rated as the best by tastings.com. Good Stuff! Not bad when you compare
to the price of quality scotch or tequila.
