Aside from your bartending expierience, what other experience do you have that
would be benificial to the distrubutor you are looking to work for? What job
do you want?

Think about it this way, how many diffrent kinds of entry level positions are
there in this particular distribution company. There generaly aren't many.
Sales, Distribution, customer service... humm that's about it.

Do you want to be a sales rep.... then you need to have very strong
communication, sales and organizational skills, and probably a driving record
that is good, as you will be paying onsite visits. These jobs go to people
who cary themselves well, can make cold calls and sell themselves and new
product. Generaly these positions go to people with a BA in Business
(marketing or administration)or to those who have studied these courses in
college.

Distribution has a couple diffrent layers, from when the Sales rep calls in
orders to the Distribution Coordinator to when the product gets delivered to
the door of the consumer. The Distribution Corrdinator tells everyone in the
distribution center who gets what. People pack cases of liqour for orders,
others load them on trucks making sure the whole order is there and others
drive the trucks to the consumer. As you have probably surmised, a
Distribution coordinator will need some background education in management and
administration, the folks who put together the orders will have to be well
organized and have good memories (and good backs) and the drivers will need to
have a CDL, be able to keep a schedule, organized and physicaly strong.

Coustomer service requires patience. No one ever calls you unless something
is wrong, and then they are pissed off. You will need strong computer skills
and be able to communicate very well verbaly, as you will probably never see
the person who is s pissed off. you wil also have to be super organized, so
things like mis orders and missing cases of liqour don't dissapear.

There are other levels in the distribution scene, but "newbies" or entry level
professionals rarely get to see this aspect untill they ahve been with the
comapany for some time.

I don't know really what more to tell you without you letting us know what
area of distributuion you want to venture into. One thing to remember, it is
a very profesional job, so you should appear professional, and have a
professional resume. If you have little to no college expierince and are
still pretty young, chances are slim you will be getting one of the "good"
jobs right away, you will have to work your way up, as you would have to
anywhere else that is in the somewhat corperate world. If you have some good
experience in sales and management, really tout those, they are aplicable to
the position in almost every case.

Good luck to you!!!!

Jes
