Chief,
          I have spiked watermelons 2 different ways:
1.  In the top of a fairly good sized watermelon, cut out a "plug" about the 
size of  a golf ball.  Then, patienly pour in the alcohol. You'll have to pour 
some in then wait several seconds for it to soak in.  Continue this until you 
think you have put in enough.  It just depends on how strong you want it.  As 
for the type of alcohol, I like vodka or a good rum, although pure grain is 
also a good choice, just be careful not to put in too much if you use the pure 
grain.  After all the alcohol is in the melon, put the plug back in and let it 
sit for a few hours before eating.  
2.   This is my favorite method. First you have to find a rather large 
hypodermic needle.  You can usually get these at feed stores like Burkmann 
Mills, Southern States etc. or at medical supply stores.  Get one with the 
largest syringe you can find.  Then, poke away.  Just fill the hypo with the 
alcohol and insert into the watermelon.  Make sure not to "shoot" it in the 
same place everytime.  Try to spread the alcohol throughout the melon.  You'll 
quickly find out the melons limits when you go to put more in and it starts 
seeping out of all the little holes.  When it does that, let it sit for a hour 
or so and ENJOY!
