I'd like to know a bit more about how diffrent states ID's look, and how you
all spot a fake. In a college town I get so many diffrent ID's that it really
is, well, a total bitch. I would particularly like some advice on pasports
and military ID's (ahem rumrunner - military - right up your alley - yes?)
I'm reposting something else I wrote today, I'll probably have some more
things for Colorado on monday... so this is what I posted.
For Colorado ID's: All that are issued to minors now are on the verticle,
meaning you have to turn the card sideways to check it out. Look at the date
of issue and the date of birth, if it is a licence the issue date and the DOB
month and day should be pretty close, unless it is a replacement, then it will
clearly say accross the top "REPLACEMENT".
Cards that have been issued in the last three years will not be laminated like
the old ones which had about 1/4 inch of clear laminent bordering the edges.
All of the newer ones are solid WHITE. The photo will have a blue background
and there will be two places where the card owners signature appears. (I'd
tell you where, but my ID is in last nights jeans. I think on the front and
back. Check the hologram, it is the Colorado state seal and is imbeded in the
laminent. It should not peel off and should not be a bump on the ID.
Check the back of the card and see if the print is lighter than on the
front... This is how I have aquired my vast collection of fakes (the local
police have a file that is so thick with the fakes I have turned in that they
had to start a 2004 one!). The print should be just as dark on both sides.
Monday I'll post some more on spotting CO fakes, when I can look through my
stack.
Now, Back to the Hole Punches, Talk to the DMV and see what they recomend you
do, I'll swing down to mine and see what he has to say, but I'm very leery of
it.
