Subject: Just got hired as a barback, what do you think?

Hi guys, just found this board and its a wealth of information to say the
least!

I just got hired as a barback today at a restaurant called Carmine's here in
Atlantic City (They have two restaurants in New York). They are set to open
next month and I have 2 weeks of training.

The General Manager I spoke with today seemed really nice, basically he says
I'll get paid $5/hr then get tipped out something like 15-25% from a "pool" of
all the bartenders money.

He also said charged tips would be payed out with my paycheck...so I guess
they'll take taxes out of that :( He said it looked like I'd be good doing
inventory control in the back since I have good admin skills from other jobs
so I guess if that works out I'll get a pay raise in addition.

I wanted to know if that sounded similar to other barback positions, ie
payrate etc. I'm pretty excited as I used to bus tables at a small restaurant
and I made pretty good money and this sounds like it should be even better.
