

Yeah, that is one point that sucks here in the UK - as with the US, bar work
is considered a minimum wage gig, but the tipping culture here is
non-existant. I was quite surprised to find I average 1-2 people a night
offering to buy me a drink where I work now - it's just not expected of people
here.
That said, our minimum wage is at least enough to live on, and in a job I love
I'll quite happily work long hours. And when you're good at your job and
approach it professionally, you will hopefully find yourself promoted up the
ranks. The tricky part is finding a bar where being promoted doesn't move you
away from the area you love - serving the drinks.
