Gracie,
I just completed bartending school. I did a two week course for a total of 40
hours. Costed $495. That is the lowest rate I know of where I'm from. I
followed up on the leads the instructor gave me and got two positions right
away, but I was brand new also. I don't even go out to drink much! If I hadn't
taken the class I would have been absolutely terrified, so it was helpful. I
found that almost all of the bar managers I talked to wanted me to start as a
hostess or bar back and work my way up, so don't be discouraged if you don't
get a bartending position right away. The only issue I would forsee is that my
teacher only takes students already 21 years of age. I don't know what the
regulations are everywhere else, so just something to look into.
