Ive just finished my stint of barbacking and have just started tending, for
the year and a half backing I never recieved any tips percentage or set. No
matter how busy the night was i didnt see a cent, last new years was the
busiest day we had in the 21 years the place had been open, we were 3 barbacks
down and I worked my ass off and none of the tenders even offered me any tips.

As a bar back I was used to not recieving any more money than my base rate so
any other money offered to me was a bonus, it is pretty rare for a barback to
be promoted to tender at my work so it was incentive for me to work harder to
proove that i was up to the job, and now its paying off. Not that I am a
tender I will be showing the barbacks more apprecieation because I know what
they go through in a high paced work envoronment.

Then again I'm glad I started at the bottom and am working my way up, so when
I am eventualy management I will know how to treat my staff.
