Subject: Good Plan for Starting Out?

I'm a 27yr old male in a pretty good location for potential work- live in a
college town, 30mins from another college town, 45mins from a major
metropolis, 1hr from beaches + casinos. I've always enjoyed working with the
public and friendly conversation, have a good sense of humor and have actually
had experience running a service office before (PR, maintaining stock, etc.)
which may come in handy. And yes I have enrolled in the dreaded bartending
school! :) However I'm taking the class with the approach that I can only come
out of there knowing more than I know now, which is how to be a (loyal)
customer. In no way do I plan to walk into a bar waving my diploma about with
delusions of grandeur. After or even during the duration of the class I plan
on acquiring a barback position if possible. I've already begun grabbing
copies of drink menus from the establishments I, uhmm, study at ;) to master
the recipes. Now the thing I'm wondering.. should I even bother mentioning the
class, or wait for my chance to work a few shifts and act like the small
amount of mechanics I learned in the class come natural? If I was to mention
the class at all I would do it as I have here, as a way to get my feet wet in
a brave new world.

Basically, if I go into a place looking to be a barback and the question about
classes doesn't come up, should I bring it up or not? Thx in advance for your
thoughts.
