wow....I did not expect to spark such a debate. I'll let you all in on some
of the details that I was vague about before....
the new GM (the ONLY new person on staff) replaced a part-owner who was acting
GM. That guy was more involved with his girlfriend than the company and really
let the place go. At first the changes and new, stricter rules cut into the
fun-factor, but were also very welcome changes from anyone who was serious
about thier job. Now that six months has passed, the good changes have
stopped and now he is just getting utterly ridiculous. He doesn't know the
names or faces of any of the regular patrons, bartenders get in trouble if
they look like they are having fun (seriously, I am not exaggerating!), and he
has forced the chef to work over two months without a day off (says he can't
afford to pay anyone else)! I could go on and on with the complaints, but
instead I will tell you that our numbers are more than double what they were
last year, and last year they were more than double what they were from the
year before. I remind you that the staff in general has not changed (besides
the GM) in over a year!
As I am writing this I am all but convincing myself that it is time to go.
Since it is obvious that many of you are in management, what would you think
about someone giving these reasons for leaving a job when they show up at an
interview?
