Subject: Sour Mash vs. Kentucky Straight?
From: sippincocktails

In bar school all we really learned about Bourbons was that some are called
Sour Mashes and some are called Kentucky Straights. List as follows...
Jack D. (SM)
WL Weller (SM)
Jim Beam (SM)
George Dickel (SM)
Gentleman Jack (SM

Wild Turkey (KS)
Old Charter (KS)
Southern Comfort (KS)
Maker's mark (KS)

Is that right? Also, I noticed some bottles say both sour mash and kentucky
straight. I am very confused. Example: On the label of Jim Beam it says "Sour
Mash Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey."

What is the difference and how does one tell when they say both on the label?

Thanks!
