I think I've mentioned this in earlier posts but what you're taught means 
nothing, what matters is consistancy, what you feel comfortable with, I use a 
slow 3 count for a double shot (however I'm British so that's 50 millilitres 
(ml) aroud an oz). The real issue is experience, how full is the bottle, hoe 
viscous is the liquid? If you use the same cout with Bailey's (as an example) 
the three count will be insufficient. Adapt and learn, there is a lot to be 
said for pouring into jiggers, it teaches you to be accurate. If you're mildly 
obsessive like me you can tah=ke a jigger and bottle into the bath with you 
and practice :-)
