I just got married two weeks ago, so this may be helpfull. I figured about
two or three glasses of wine per person, now it depends on the sizes of the
bottles that you are buying how many bottles you will need. A smaller bottle
is about four glasses, a 1.75 is about eight. You should purchase White
Zinfandell, Chardonay, Merlot and Cabernet Sou. to be safe for all the wine
drinkers. I purchased a case of each, 1.75 size and we were fine for wine.

See if she is using her venue to purchase liqour through or if she is able to
do it herself. Most venues will do the ordering for you, keep in mind
however, that most liqour laws do not allow you to remove "leftover liqour"
from the premises. This means open or sealed bottles and sealed or tapped
kegs. Most venues work well with large groups, placing a large order, but
only charging for the bottles and kegs that are actualy opened.

Beer is a diffrent story, I ordered one whole keg and then two half kegs. We
floated the whole keg and most of one of the half kegs, but were able to save
ourselves from having to puchase a whole keg by using the two halves. In
esscence we only purchased one and a half keg.

Champagne, we offered champagne to those who wanted it, but really, many
people do not have a palate for the bubbly stuff and would rather not have to
drink a glass of the stuff out of obligation. I think we got away with about
7 "magnum" bottles, but we ordered a case.

So, Seeing as how we planned on 250, about 175 showed up. We purchaed a case
each of "magnum" or 1.75's of Chardonay, White Zinfandell, Merlot and Cabernet
and a midgrade champagne. For beer we puchased a Keg and two half barrels.
This should set her up quite well.

What does anyone else think?
