I have had several friends go on the Atkins diet, and I can say with certainty
that it can do irreparable harm to the body. One friend in particular had
problems. Her colon stopped functioning and she ceased to have bowl
movements. She ended up having to have surgery. She had close to fifty
pounds of waist in her body.
Nutritionists I have talked to say that any diet that cuts out one building
block of nutrition is bad for your body. It's a quick fix that more often
than not will be undone as soon as the dieter goes off their diet. I'm
personally appalled at this new craze because it's catching on very quickly.
And truthfully, the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to work out.
Diets can help, but in the long run it is far more beneficial to just be
active.
Oh, and am I the only one who sees the connection in Dr. Atkins going into
cardiac arrest in 2002?
