Bartending School is what you make of it.
I went to Bartending School ( 15 years ago ) and it was a COMPLETE WASTE OF
TIME for me...
But I chose the WRONG school. I was sucked in my worthless promises about
"job Placement" and so on...
True, i DID get my fist job from the school...but they didn't teach me how to
KEEP the job!! Ha!!
You see, Bartenders need to be ACTIVE...not slow. Always be on the move!
Always be thinking about the next move. That's what the bartending school I
went to didn't teach me.
Now, I do the hiring!
and YES, I've hired B.S. Grads fresh out of bar school..only ONE school, NOT a
"chain store school" ( privately owned.)
The school we contacted for bartenders was privately owned and was started up
by bartenders.
Most all bartending schools are corporate owned..not owned by bartenders!
Be careful which school you choose. Call them up and have them answer all of
your questions...including price, what you're getting for your money, job
assistance, etc..
Any Bartending School that won't tell you the price over the phone is out to
SCAM you...Take it from me...I've been there and I got suckered big time!
Also, those so called "online schools"....well you do the math! $200? for a
book? A video? C'Mon!! Don't be an IDIOT!
Choose a Private School....not a national chain type of school. ( Avoid the
"ABC", "National", "Professional", etc...They're all Rip-Offs.) The grads
from there only know drink recipes. They DON'T know what "Bartending" really
means. Bartending means "Customer Service" and that's something that most all
bartending schools don't teach more than a few minutes of.
Good Luck,
