a black and tan in ireland is called a "half and half." it is made the same 
way, except served at room temperature. 
the Black & Tan regiment of the english army slaughtered thousands of irish 
citizens about a hundred years ago i think...so ordering a black and tan is 
sort of like walking into a bar in oklahoma city and asking for a Tim McVey 
Cocktail...
