Yu:
You said that you did not tell anyone of the places you went to bartending
school. It seems like some places have a certain stigma towards bartending
school. What is interesting is that I met about 3 bartenders that went to
bartending school.
What you say helped you land your first bartending job? I mean did you say
you practiced a lot at home? Are there more places than I think that are
willing to train bartenders? I have found one but that place already found a
bartender.
Are you saying it is probably not hard to get a bartending without schooling
and experience? Do you think you could have gotten a job without attending
bartending school? What do you think this bartending school did for you? You
mentioned you did not tell places you went to bartending school and you got
work without telling them you went to bartending school. I saw in their
syllabus they go over flipping but this does not seem important to many places?
So right now you manage a bar or you are a head bartender? What kind of
person are you looking for or trying to bring in? Is your place, a place were
they are willing to train? I understand every individual has certain
qualities they look for that others dont like some brokerage firms look for
athletes and other look for successful professional and others look for real
hungry people. Do you have all the say on who you hire?
When I go to the school to register could I say that you referred me?
I know going to bartending school is not a necessity but I am thinking it
might be the best for me since there will be other students and the place
could be used as a reference. I could be wrong about the bartending school
thing.
I think it would be cool to be a pro at cocktails and to be first class at
cocktails. I know in college I said I would give bartending a shot. After my
first week or month on the job at bartending I will buy myself the tequilas
and vermouths for a home lab.
