I only discovered this forum a few months ago courtesy of bartender magazine.
I on many occasions found it helpful and informative. Other occasions
entertaining. and there were a few times annoying. But i think that most of
the folks on here are nice and cool and i just wanted to say thank you to all
of you who make the world of bartending a better place. I have only been
bartending in a small pub for two years and after reading and reading i think
i am at the point where i have enough expirience and confidence to move on to
a busier and more money making bar.
I most definatly learned alot from that insane thread over the last couple of
days about people that even though i am not a so called "professional"
bartender, i will go far in this job because i am a good, honest and
respectable person and it seems that at least around here anyway that good
people in this job are few and far between.
I enjoy the pub a great deal, much better than the night club or restaurant
(as far as working goes) and the people that have come in and out of the bar
that i work at now seem to come from all walks of life. I had one girl that
had always worked in a night club and came to work with me and not that she
was a bad bartender in anyway, the girl definatly knew her drinks and had the
speed of a nascar guy, but she had the personality of a brick. But i think
that it is cool to always look at things in perspective and to know that no
one is perfect and everyone is different (things we all already know). And we
all make mistakes.
Everything is a learning curve and to survive it, we must learn from everyone.
But anywho, im on my way to dip into the drink for the night. Again, i want
to thank all of you on this forum for being great bartenders and readers.
