thanks for you insight. i own a liquor store, so a doorman wouldn't help me.
(although that would be pretty damn funny.) In NY state, lotto machines were
capable of checking only NY IDs to tell how old someone really was. This
seemed nice, but the new NY licenses make altering them very difficult. My
problem is that i'm getting all these little boys in who i suspect are 19 or
20 with IDs with their picture and height, weight, whatever showing that
they're 21 or 22. i'm just barely 24, so i'm not too out of touch in thinking
these guys look too young. My problem is that i can't prove it. Like i have
tried the 'show me another ID approach' which didn't work. For example, they
weren't the one driving, but their friend pulls up in front of the store with
NY plates. The guy who comes in to buy has a CT license. So i ask for another
form of ID and they fumble-all they come up with is a credit card with their
name on it. Its their name-they didn't steal the ID from their older brother,
but I can't prove their under 21. I could just tell them to f-off and not sell
it to them, which i've pulled before too, but i just want to be sure so i'm
not pulling the 'i'm psychic so i just know that you're too young' card out of
my back pocket.

this is frustrating and i thank you for your insight. i remember hearing that
ID checkers weren't fantastic, but wanted as much feedback as possible-even if
i can't seem to locate a supplier for them.

thanks,
jen
