"The bar opened in 1984 selling a drink called the Tropical Itch, which is
served with a miniature toy back scratcher. While shopping for these plastic
trinkets, "we saw the toy handgrenade and we thought, 'hmm, that could be an
interesting drink,' " Fortner explains. "So we bought the toy handgrenade,
and we thought the drink should be green and strong.""
A plastic handgrenade, you say?

"The second-most famous drink on Bourbon Street is the HandGrenade. It's
served up at a Jimmy Buffett-style bar called Tropical Isle, and it's
ingredients are a closely-guarded national secret (or so they pretend). Let's
just say it's green and potent – they promote it as New Orleans' strongest
drink – and the tall plastic green cups in which they are served can be seen
all over Bourbon Street. Go in or get 'em to go from the side window bar."
Why not have a drive-thru window?

How did this site get their hands on this secret recipe?
Does this bar pre-mix their "HandGrenade", so that you can't see the
bottles?
