Subject: Would a resume help a newbie?

Here's my situation....I'm a 32 year old guy with a successful career, and a
pretty impressive resume within my field. I've worked hard, have a good
education, and I'm very proud of what I've been fortunate enough to
accomplish. Unfortunately, business is not what it used to be in my field, and
I've just finished bartending school, with an eye toward getting a weekend gig
for a couple of extra bucks.
My question is based on the following facts:
1. Getting where I am in my profession has required a good education, lots of
hard work, dedication, discipline, humility, and the ability to deal with
people in a wide variety of situations. I also have an extensive military
background.
1a. I have extensive experience dealing with people, as stated previously, and
I interview fairly well.
2. I have gone to bartending school, but have never been a bartender.

I'd like to know whether submitting resumes would help me get a job. I'm
perfectly willing to take something non-glamorous to begin to learn the trade.
That's not a problem. What I really want to know is if the people who hire
bartenders will take into account the fact that I've been a success in another
field. Would they think an impressive resume in another field could translate
into success as a bartender? Or would spreading resumes around be a waste of
time?
