I would say that matches are preferable to lighters when igniting drinks as 
they don't heat up and burn your hand. I prefer to light my drinks in a wine 
glass or brandy snifter, which gives a better surface area from which to 
ignite the drink. My favorite is called a 'rage juice'. It is made in one of 
the glasses above and is equal parts Cointreau, Sambucca and Drambuie. Once 
the mixture is alight, cover it with your hand (be careful not to let it burn 
to long first. A vacume will form around your hand owing to the absence of 
air. Shake the mix whlist it's stuck to your hand, then swallow in one gulp. 
It's a kick-ass drink.
