Just to clarify for or non-Norwegian friends:
Norway have not got a ban on smoking in bars and restaurants quite yet,
but the suggestion now has government approval and a bill is likely to
be passed soon.
If so, smoking in Norwegian bars, cafés and restaurants will be banned
from the beginning of 2004 (similar to California I believe).

Personally I would love to see all bars and restaurants be smoke free.
I have a hard time being in a smoke filled room, and even if they try
to separate the smoking and the non-smoking guests, that often fail and
smoke get into the entire establishment.
In this case, the owners of the bars and restaurants fear that less people
will go out to have dinner or a drink, while the employees back the
proposal. The question is who will "win".
