Depends on what kind of beer you like. You can do a Jack Daniels shot dropped
into any beer with a high alchohol content and a a bitter flavor to compliment
the rather mellow tones of the JD (I myself prefer either Killian's Irish Red,
or if that's not available, Heineken). For tequila, mexican beer is better,
Corona the best. Vodka goes well with Bud or Coors, since the almost
flavorless liquor goes well with the flavorless beer :-) Gin, I find, goes
well with Ales instead of Lagers, or maybe hard cider. Rum is hard to make a
boilermaker because most popular rums (Captain Morgan, etc.) can be spiced,
and hard to find a compliment. My favorite boilermakers are those with thick
and heady beers: Guinness makes probably the best one, and being Irish, I like
to use either Jameson's or DeWar's. hope this helps,

StevieD
