I remember seeing this done once, and have seen in one of our books at work
but managed to find it on the net. Still a little on the flaming sambuca
thread, however...
From: http://www.cocktailmaking.co.uk
1 shot kahlua
1 shot sambuca (white or black)
1 shot blue curaçao
1 shot baileys irish cream
straw
matches
Layer Sambuca over kahlua in narrow glass and pour a shot of baileys into one
shot glass and blue curacao into another.
Place straw into layered kahlua and sambuca and ignite sambuca.
Then drink before straw melts and as last dregs of sambuca are being drunk
pour in baileys and blue curaçao at the same time. These are to be drunk
through the straws at the same time.
Dangerous be careful fire and extremely high alcohol content are very
dangerous! :)
P.S. also on the Webtender at http://www.webtender.com/db/drink/2966
We have a cocktail on our list called
Bombay Blueberry
1 1/2 oz Bombay Blue Saphire Gin
1/2 oz lemon/lime juice
dash of Orange Bitters
dash of Blue Curacao (just enough to turn the thing blue)
dash of Cranberry juice (just enough to then turn it Blueberry :)
Assemble in a mixing tin with ice, stir like a Martini and strain into a
chilled Martini glass. The finishing touch is to flame orange peel on the
surface.
Garnish with a twist of orange.
HOW TO FLAME AN ORANGE PEEL from: http://www.kingcocktail.com
The fruit should be firm and fresh to insure there is enough oil present in
the skin. To flame the oil, hold a lit match in one hand, and pick up the
twist in the other very carefully like holding an egg shell, if you squeeze
the twist prematurely the oil will be expelled. Hold the twist by the side not
the ends, between thumb and forefinger, skin side down, about four inches
above the drink. Don't squeeze or you'll lose all the oil before you flame.
Hold the match between the drink and the twist, closer to the twist. Snap the
twist sharply, propelling the oil through the lit match and onto the surface
of the drink. (Be sure to hold twist far enough from the drink to avoid
getting a smoky film on the glass.)
Cheers,
Jim.
