Shaz,
    Lad is right, if you are worried about them choking because they are 
drunk, cut them off.   However if your concern is seeds from lemon wedges and 
other things that can take away from the drink there are options.  First you 
need to take into consideration if the "garnish" is actually a garnish or just 
garbage.  Garnishes while adding to the visual appeal of the drink also add to 
the flavor.  Garbage on the other hand is for looks only.  If you are using a 
garnish consider juices to substitute and still add flavor.  Roses' Lime Juice 
in a Corona works just as well as lime wedge.  Grenadine is a good substitute 
for cherry flavor as well.  Hope that helped.
