I have some questions about watermelons. I'll be trying to make one for the
first time in a couple of weeks, and would like it to go well. First of all,
Kent Garber says you need a funnell. Why? Can you not just pour the Vodka
directly into the hole? Secondly, if you don't use enough alcohol/liquid to
completely saturate the watermelon, will it settle to the bottom side? If you
know you don't have enough alcohol/liquid to completely saturate it, do you
need to turn the watermelon on occasion. Could you use a syringe to spike the
watermelon instead of cutting a hole (yes, that would be more labor
intensive)? Does it really have to sit for two days? What happens if you
just let it sit for six hours or so? I was at a party last weekend where some
people had a "spiked" watermelon, but it seemed perfectly normal to me, so
they must have done something wrong. I sure want my attempt to be better than
that. Oh yeah, also, what if I used something like Golden Grain to spike it?
Yes, I know I don't want to give anyone alcohol poisining, but I could get the
same results with a lot less spiking, right? or not?
