Take two silver or pewter mugs; in one melt one lump of sugar in boiling water 
that half fills one mug, in the other pour half-way some pre-warmed Scotch and 
ignite it. When the Whisky blazes brillantly, pour it into the other mug 
rapidly, then pour the mixture back and forth deftly with equal speed about 
six or seven times, thus producing a blaze of light. Bourbon, Rye or Rum maybe 
used.
