You can soak maraschino cherries in any alcohol. They are normally soaked in 
brandy.  Put the cherries in a jar and add the alcohol.  Make sure the alcohol 
covers all the cherries.  Seal the jar and let them soak for about 12 hours.  
Taste a cherry every 12 hours.  Let them soak until they are at the desired 
strength.  Then drain out all the alcohol from the jar.  And refrigerate the 
cherries.
