Hey wassup. I'm in the same boat as you, but I can tell you one thing, I've
amassed a LARGE amount of information over the internet! From recipes to
thousands upon thousands of drink recipe lists, you can find anything and
everything on the internet. If your not having any luck, email me and I will
send you some links. My email is veriria[at]rubberhouse.net. Also, I've found
some ok/so-so books from Barns and Nobles, mainly they are drink guides, but
the one book I bought was only 6.99 and it has over 3,000 drink recipes -
certainly not that you have to memorize them, but the books may come in handy
sometime, at any rate.

I'm not pretending to know much more about bartending...As a matter of fact, I
have to wait a year to even get into it, I'm only 20 years old :P I DO know
for a fact that, you do NOT need to get a certificate to become a bartender.
I also hear bad and good things about bartending schools - its about
fifty/fifty good and bad comments combined. I really don't know what to think
about them, because I've never taken a bartending course - but I don't plan to
either. Like you, I want to become a bartender to (hopefully) pay my way
through college. And from the comments I've seen about schools and
certificates, most managers could give a rats butt if you had one or not -
they want to actually SEE that you have what it takes, a peice of paper can't
tell them that ;) Of course thats just from what I've heard so far from
people...I could be wrong! maybe someone with more experience will reply ^_^

Cheers~
